Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Refractive & Cataract Surgeon to join an established ophthalmology organization serving patients throughout the Tampa Bay area.
The physician will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care with a strong focus on:
- Cataract surgery
- Refractive cataract surgery
- Laser vision correction
- Premium and advanced-technology IOLs
- Comprehensive ophthalmology
- Advanced vision correction procedures
The practice offers an established patient base, immediate surgical volume, modern technology and a collaborative clinical environment.
Job Responsibilities
Perform cataract and refractive cataract procedures.
Provide laser vision correction and other appropriate refractive procedures.
Evaluate patients for premium and advanced-technology IOL options.
Develop individualized surgical and treatment plans.
Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
Educate patients regarding surgical options, risks, benefits and expected outcomes.
Work collaboratively with optometrists, ophthalmologists, technicians and nursing staff.
Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
Monitor surgical outcomes and maintain high standards of patient safety.
Stay current with advances in cataract, refractive and laser vision technology.
Contribute to the continued growth of the surgical practice.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency.
Board certification in Ophthalmology.
Minimum 3 years of post-training ophthalmology experience.
Demonstrated cataract and/or refractive surgical experience.
Strong clinical judgment and surgical skills.
Excellent patient communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative ophthalmology/optometry environment.
Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one promptly.
Preferred:
Fellowship training in cornea, anterior segment, cataract or refractive surgery.
Experience with laser vision correction.
Experience with premium/advanced-technology IOLs.
Experience with LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL or other advanced refractive procedures.
IMLC eligibility.
Working Hours
Typical clinic hours approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Surgical days may begin as early as 6:30 AM
No regularly scheduled evenings
No regularly scheduled weekends
No regular holiday coverage
Limited telephone/mobile call
