Position Overview
A well-established multispecialty ophthalmology organization with 25+ years of experience is seeking an experienced Refractive & Cataract Surgeon to join its growing surgical team.
The organization has established practice locations across Florida, including Sebring, Gainesville, and the Tampa market, with a collaborative MD/OD care model.
This is an urgent growth opportunity with immediate surgical volume available. The incoming surgeon will help meet existing patient demand while contributing to the continued expansion of the organization.
Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations and patient care.
Perform cataract, refractive cataract, and laser vision-correction procedures.
Develop individualized surgical and treatment plans.
Recommend appropriate premium lenses and refractive technologies.
Manage patients through preoperative and postoperative care.
Monitor surgical outcomes and modify treatment plans when clinically appropriate.
Educate patients regarding treatment options, expectations, risks, and outcomes.
Collaborate with optometrists, technicians, nurses, and other clinical team members.
Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
Stay current with advances in refractive surgery, cataract technology, premium lenses, and vision correction.
Support ongoing clinical growth and expansion.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency.
Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
Fellowship training strongly preferred.
Minimum 3 years of post-training ophthalmology experience.
Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain one promptly.
Interstate Medical Licensure Compact eligibility is beneficial when applicable.
Demonstrated cataract and/or refractive surgical experience.
Experience with laser vision correction and premium IOL technology strongly preferred.
Strong surgical skills and clinical judgment.
Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes, and clinical excellence.
Ability to work effectively within an integrated MD/OD practice model.
Experienced surgeons are preferred; this opportunity is not currently targeting new graduates.
Working Hours
Monday–Friday
Standard clinic hours approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Surgical days may begin around 6:30 AM
No regularly scheduled evenings
No weekend shifts
No holiday shifts
Limited call responsibilities via remote telephone/mobile coverage

This is primarily a cataract, refractive, laser, and lens-based opportunity and is not a retina-focused position.
