A prominent health center in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a full-time locum Optometrist (OD) for an ongoing primary eye care assignment. Featuring standard weekday clinic hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), zero weekend or call duties, and a focused comprehensive scope, this position offers an ideal balance of patient care and lifestyle flexibility.
The Opportunity
Step into an established outpatient primary care clinic, delivering routine and diagnostic optometric care across a diverse community panel.

Clinical Scope: Provide full-scope primary eye care and diagnostic evaluations, including:

Performing comprehensive eye and vision examinations

Diagnosing, managing, and treating common ocular diseases and conditions

Prescribing corrective lenses and appropriate therapeutic medications

Completing clinical documentation and coordinating specialty ophthalmology referrals as needed

The Schedule & Hours: Full-time weekday schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

Call & Weekend Obligations: Zero weekend shifts. Zero call coverage required.

Work Environment: 100% outpatient community primary care clinic setting.
Candidate Requirements
All candidate submissions must meet state licensing criteria and complete standard facility credentialing.

Degree & Certification: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution; current NBEO certification.

Licensure: Active Alabama Optometry License (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Clinical Competency: Strong communication and patient-care skills; prior experience in outpatient or primary eye care settings preferred.
