Job Details

• Opportunity Type: Locums-to-Perm

• Coverage Need: 1 full-time locum provider

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

• On-Site Requirement: Provider must be onsite during operating hours.

• Patient Volume: Approximately 10–16 patients under treatment per physician per day

• EMR: Epic and Varian ARIA

• Hospital Stroke Certified: Yes

• BLS Certification: Required

Weekly Schedule

• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Consultations, follow-ups, and CT simulations

• Tuesday: On-treatment visit (OTV) day; consults are typically not scheduled.

Patient Volume & Workflow

• 35–50 patients under treatment daily across the physician team

• Approximately 10–16 patients under treatment per physician per day

• 3–5 CT simulations per day across the department

• Approximately 2–3 consultations per day, four days per week

• Approximately 10–12 follow-up visits per week

• Consultation appointments: 60 minutes

• Follow-up appointments: 30 minutes

Department Staffing & Support When fully staffed, the department includes:

• 4.0 FTE Radiation Oncologists in Duluth

• 1.0 FTE Radiation Oncologist in Ashland

• 1.8 FTE Medical Physicists, including 0.8 FTE remote support; active recruiting is underway

• 3 Medical Dosimetrists

• 7 Radiation Therapists

• 2.0 FTE RNs staffed daily

• 1 Radiation Oncology Manager

• 1 Clinical Assistant (CA)

• 1 Scheduler

Team Environment

• The locum will not work alone; at least 2 Radiation Oncologists will be in the department at a minimum.

• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary oncology team.

• Participate in chart rounds, system peer rounds, and tumor conferences.

Technology & Treatment Modalities

• Two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators

• Siemens Go Open Pro large-bore CT scanner with respiratory gating

• Identify Motion Management System

• Varian Eclipse treatment planning system

• MIM

• Varian ARIA

• Epic for clinic practice

Treatment modalities include:

• CT simulations

• 3D conformal radiation therapy

• Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

• Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)

• Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT)

• Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)

Required Clinical Skills & Experience

• External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT)

• Linear accelerator proficiency

• RapidArc/VMAT

• Electron therapy

• Conventional/conformal therapy

• IMRT

• Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)

• SBRT

• SRS, all types

• Conventional treatment planning

• Beam shaping with multileaf collimators (MLC)

• 3D conformal radiation therapy (3D CRT)

• PET/CT or MRI image fusion

• Electronic Portal Imaging (EPI)

• Proficiency with Epic, Varian ARIA, and Eclipse

• Experience using Varian TrueBeam

• Ability to manage inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits

• Experience with CT simulation orders, treatment planning, critical structures, radiation therapy prescriptions, plan approval, and imaging orders and review/approval

Provider Requirements

• Board-certified Radiation Oncologist

• Active Minnesota medical license preferred; IMLC accepted

• BLS certification required
