Locums – Rockford, Illinois, Radiation Oncology Physician Job

Clinical Role:

• Locum tenens opportunity

• Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible radiation oncologist

• Seeking coverage through the end of 2026, with potential to extend into 2027 while a permanent provider is recruited

• Start date to be confirmed

• Site is requesting two consecutive weeks of coverage

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

• Outpatient clinic only

• Some night call and occasional weekend coverage

• No rounding

• No procedures required

• Consistent weekday coverage is needed for continuity of care

• Strong preference for one full-time locum provider

• Will consider two providers splitting coverage if continuous coverage can be maintained

• Patient volume:

  • 25–35 patients on treatment per day

  • 3–7 consultations per week

  • 20–30 follow-up visits per week

• Evaluate and manage patients undergoing radiation therapy

• Conduct new patient consultations, including review of medical history, imaging, and pathology

• Develop and oversee radiation treatment plans in collaboration with physicists and dosimetry staff

• Provide follow-up care and survivorship planning

• Collaborate with medical oncology, surgery, and other members of the multidisciplinary team

• Consultations and treatment planning encompass all disease sites

• Treatment population primarily includes prostate, breast, and lung cancers

• Treatment modalities include 3D, IMRT, lung SBRT, and SRS

• No brachytherapy

• Two physicians onsite

• Onsite support includes:

  • Four radiation therapists

  • Two physicists

  • Two nurses

  • One dosimetrist

  • One radiation manager

• Technology and systems:

  • Epic EMR

  • ARIA for radiation oncology treatment management

  • Eclipse treatment planning

  • Vision RT surface mapping

  • Six-degree-of-freedom couch

  • Radformation
