Radiation Oncology Specialist (Hospital-Based Setting)

Position Summary
A hospital-based cancer care program in northeastern Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Radiation Oncology professional to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered cancer treatment. This role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary oncology team to plan, administer, and monitor radiation therapy treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients with cancer and related conditions
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and nursing staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Accurately position patients and operate advanced radiation therapy equipment (e.g., linear accelerators)
  • Monitor patients during treatment and assess for side effects or adverse reactions
  • Educate patients and families on treatment procedures, expectations, and side-effect management
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient treatment records and documentation
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff
  • Participate in quality assurance, equipment calibration checks, and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
  • certification (e.g., ARRT in Radiation Therapy) preferred/required
  • Current state licensure (if applicable)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety principles and oncology care standards

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and technical proficiency with medical equipment
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills, especially in sensitive oncology settings
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Compassion and empathy when working with patients undergoing cancer treatment

Work Environment

  • Hospital-based radiation oncology department
  • Full-time schedule with planned treatment sessions
  • Direct patient interaction in both inpatient and outpatient settings
