Job description
We are seeking a Medical Oncologist for a locum tenens position in New Ulm, Minnesota. This is an outpatient infusion and oncology clinic role within a community-based oncology practice that sits inside a larger integrated cancer network. Please see below for more information.
- Trauma Level IV (Adult)
- Outpatient oncology clinic attached to the infusion department, with 5 clinic exam rooms
- Infusion center featuring 9 chairs, 2 private infusion treatment rooms, and 2 fast track triage rooms
- Onsite imaging including PET (PSMA PET available), CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound
- Onsite laboratory for blood draws
- Palliative care and genetic counseling supported via telehealth
- Access to clinical trials through NCI-supported research programs for eligible patients
Job Responsibilities
Care for a broad outpatient oncology and hematology population, including solid tumor cancers and hematologic conditions requiring active management
Oversee patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and oncology supportive therapies
Carry a clinic scope of approximately 13 to 20 patients per day
Review labs, imaging, and patient status prior to clinic; conduct new consults and follow-up visits for active treatment patients
Conduct afternoon clinic visits with a mix of active treatment patients and surveillance follow-ups
Coordinate with the infusion team to approve treatments, address lab abnormalities, and manage urgent patient needs
Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncology partners, and primary care and specialty providers
Provide palliative care and telehealth services within the scope of practice
Enroll eligible patients in clinical trials through NCI-supported research programs
Complete charting within 24 hours
Radiation oncology services are not within the scope of this position
Qualifications
Providers willing to obtain Minnesota licensure will be considered
Working Hours
8-hour day shifts
No call required
Coverage is primarily onsite, with some telehealth coverage open to discussion
