Medical Oncologist – Minnesota | Full-Time Locums

We are seeking a Medical Oncologist for a six-month locum assignment beginning November 2026 at a well-supported outpatient cancer program in New Ulm, Minnesota. Full-time coverage is highly preferred, with the opportunity to extend beyond the initial contract.

Assignment Details

• Start: November 9, 2026
• Six-month assignment with the option to extend
• Two positions available
• Coverage needed as soon as possible
• December availability strongly preferred
• One physician covering the duration of the assignment is preferred
• Two physicians may be considered to share coverage

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
• No call
• No weekends
• No block scheduling

Practice Setting

• Outpatient Oncology and Infusion Center
• Critical Access Hospital
• Adult Level IV Trauma Center
• Five clinic exam rooms
• Nine infusion chairs
• Two private infusion rooms
• Onsite coverage preferred
• Limited telehealth opportunities may be available

Clinical Responsibilities

• New patient consultations
• Diagnosis and treatment planning
• Chemotherapy oversight
• Immunotherapy management
• Ongoing disease management and follow-up
• Review laboratory studies and imaging
• Coordinate treatment plans with the infusion team
• Manage urgent patient needs
• Complete documentation within 24 hours

Patient Population

• 13–20 patients per day
• Broad outpatient hematology and oncology practice
• Solid tumor malignancies
• Active hematologic disorders
• Active treatment, surveillance, and follow-up patients

• CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine

• Dedicated oncology research nurse
• Oncology nurse navigator

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Medical Oncology experience required
• Minnesota license or IMLC preferred for a faster start
• COVID-19 vaccination not required

Credentialing

• 90–120 days
• Emergency privileges may be available
• Four non-billable orientation hours
