Breast Medical Oncologist - Hartford, CT An 867-bed tertiary care center and flagship hospital is seeking a medical oncologist with breast cancer sub-specialization to join our team of 4 breast medical oncologists. The busy breast service sees over 600 new cases of breast cancer annually, cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of fellowship-trained breast surgeons and medical and radiation oncologists sub-specializing in breast cancer. The clinical team is supported by:

  • Fellowship-trained pathologists and radiologists
  • Reconstructive surgeons
  • A mature genetic counseling program
  • An active nurse navigator program
  • Programs in development for survivorship, high-risk care, patient education, and breast rehabilitation services
Program Details Breast Disease Management Team (DMT): A multi-disciplinary group with governance over quality, research, and innovative program development in breast cancer across the system, working closely with its MSK counterpart Hartford Hospital Breast Tumor Board meets weekly to discuss individual patient management Hospitalist teams cover inpatient care with oncology consult service provided by medical oncology Active clinical trial and health disparities research programs; main member of SWOG and NRG Opportunities to participate in teaching, clinical research, and quality/outcomes research Support for personal development and well-being through the Physician Leadership Development Institute and the Office of Provider Wellness Since 2014, the Cancer Institute has been a strategic partner with **Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)**, ensuring that patients in Connecticut have access to the same quality of care, emerging technologies, and clinical trial opportunities as they would in New York. The Cancer Institute has oversight of all aspects of oncologic care across the 7-hospital system, serving a third of Connecticut's population. Qualifications Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology Board Certified in Internal Medicine Demonstrated experience practicing within a multidisciplinary team model of care for breast patients Academic accomplishment in clinical trials or quality improvement highly desirable Eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut This position is open to mid-career medical oncologists as well as physicians completing their fellowship with an interest in breast oncology.
