Are you a dedicated Hematologist/Oncologist looking for a rewarding locum opportunity? We are seeking a highly skilled physician to provide critical outpatient oncology and hematology services at a vibrant Infusion Center in Redding, CA. This role offers the chance to work independently with supportive mid-level providers, delivering comprehensive cancer care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood transfusions. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment with a focus on precision medicine and symptom management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage outpatient chemotherapy and infusion therapies across a broad spectrum of tumor types
- Conduct diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning for Hematology/Oncology patients
- Provide hospital consults with on-call coverage; collaborate with ER physicians and hospitalists for patient admissions
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, including infusion center protocols that require MD onsite for treatments
- Utilize EMR systems iKnowmed and Cerner for efficient patient documentation and treatment planning
- Lead oversight of oncology and hematology clinics, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure optimal patient care
Required Skills:
- Board Eligible or Certified in Hematology and Oncology
- Proven experience in outpatient chemotherapy and infusion services
- Strong knowledge of cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment modalities
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-volume setting
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience working in a hospital-based infusion center
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as iKnowmed and Cerner
- Experience with a diverse range of tumor types and complex cases
- Ability to effectively manage hospital consults and patient flow
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD degree from an accredited medical school
- Active medical license in California, or eligible for licensure
- At least 2 years of oncology and hematology practice experience
- Prior locum or hospital-based oncology experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- Commitment to working scheduled hours Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
- Availability for scheduled shifts as per the outlined calendar, including potential holidays
- Must be board eligible or certified in Hematology and Oncology
- Credentialing within 30-60 days and active enrollment with relevant facilities
- Willingness to travel to Redding, CA, and adhere to all credentialing and compliance standards
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $625 - $660 (registration and direct patient care time)
- Orientation: $312.50 - $330 per hour (applicable after 8 hours of training)
- Holiday Rate: $937.50 - $990 per hour (1.5x regular hourly rate)
- Additional benefits include weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical coverage (W-2), paid sick time, licensure, certification, travel, and other reimbursements.
