Job description
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cancer across the continuum of care

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies

  • Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust plans as clinically appropriate

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, primary care providers, and support staff

  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, and prognosis

  • Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation within the EMR

  • Participate in tumor boards, care coordination meetings, and quality initiatives

  • Comply with all clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate and diagnose patients with cancer using clinical assessments, imaging, and pathology results

Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and targeted agents

Monitor patient progress, treatment response, and side effects, adjusting care plans as needed

Provide ongoing follow-up care and survivorship planning

Coordinate care with surgeons, radiation oncologists, primary care providers, and other specialists

Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case conferences

Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes

Prescribe and manage oncology medications in accordance with clinical guidelines

Manage treatment-related complications and oncologic emergencies

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record

Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers and clinical staff as applicable

Comply with all regulatory, quality, and safety standards

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical pathway development

Maintain board certification, licensure, and required continuing medical education

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of an accredited fellowship in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology

Board certified or board eligible in Medical Oncology

Active medical license or ability to obtain licensure in the practicing state

Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
