Medical Oncology Physician (MD/DO)

Position Summary
The Medical Oncology Physician provides specialized care for patients with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and managing cancer patients across outpatient and inpatient settings, delivering evidence-based treatment, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary oncology team to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cancer, including solid tumors and hematologic malignancies

  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care

  • Monitor patient response to therapy and manage treatment-related side effects

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care as assigned, including hospital rounds and consultations

  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and supportive care resources

  • Collaborate with surgeons, radiation oncologists, palliative care teams, and other specialists

  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans accurately and timely in the medical record

  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical research, patient safety, and compliance initiatives

  • Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and ethical practices

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Medical Oncology fellowship

  • Board eligible or board certified in Medical Oncology

  • Active state medical license or eligibility for licensure

  • Strong clinical judgment, procedural knowledge, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team

Work Environment

  • Outpatient oncology clinics, infusion centers, and inpatient hospital units

  • Schedule may include weekdays with possible call, evenings, or weekends depending on practice needs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical and procedural areas

  • Manual dexterity to perform examinations and procedures

  • Ability to assist with patient mobility as needed
