Medical Director for Oncology Developmental Therapeutics opening in Charlotte, NC
Located in Charlotte, NC

Overview:
- The successful candidate will be an integral part of the cancer institute's growth and reporting to the local Oncology market leader
- Duties will be split approximately at least 50% clinical and administrative effort in support of the operations for system-wide growth of the Developmental Therapeutics Program of the Cancer Institute
- The successful candidate should have early-phase developmental therapeutics training and focus
- Record of regulatory authority interactions, organization of translational research studies, and/or organization of investigator-initiated studies, and experience in the pharmaceutical industry being desirable
Responsibilities:
- Provides medical direction and oversight of early-phase clinical trials, serving as PI or supporting colleagues, and ensuring safe conduct of studies
- Leads the Developmental Therapeutics program strategy, including trial prioritization, faculty recruitment, mentorship, and system-wide integration
- Develops and authors early-phase clinical trials across all solid tumors; mentors colleagues in developmental therapeutics
- Collaborates with pre-clinical researchers and external partners to support translational research and first-in-human studies
- Oversees clinical trial operations, including study activation timelines, staff caseloads, audit responses, and budget monitoring
- Serves as liaison among faculty, clinical operations, and leadership to resolve conflicts and improve trial execution
- Represents the program in institutional review boards, leadership meetings, and clinical trial oversight committees
- Builds and maintains a national reputation for Health System as a premier destination for early-phase clinical trials
- Supports community and catchment area needs by expanding trial access and fostering inclusive, multidisciplinary research collaboration
