Job Title: Physician Medical Director – Occupational Health
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate; includes malpractice coverage and weekly pay
Coverage Period: December and January
Location: Quad Cities (Davenport & Bettendorf, IA; Moline & Rock Island, IL)

Opportunity

An exceptional Physician Medical Director is needed to support a Global Fortune 500 company in the Quad Cities for coverage during December and January. This role is ideal for an Occupational Health Physician Leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing clinical responsibilities with client interaction, mentorship, auditing, and education.

The position includes 80% direct patient care and 20% administrative duties, directing clinical operations and supporting PA/NP providers.

Scope of Services

The Medical Director will oversee a full spectrum of occupational health and outpatient services, including:

  • Assessment and treatment of work-related and non-work-related injuries/illnesses

  • Workers’ compensation evaluations and regulatory exams

  • Preventive health services and medical surveillance

  • Fit-for-duty and pre-placement evaluations

  • Urgent and episodic care

  • Initial evaluation and stabilization of patients requiring higher-level care

  • Direction, support, and education for PA/NPs

  • Consultation and collaboration with onsite providers

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide 80% direct patient care and 20% administrative oversight

  • Serve as the primary Occupational Health clinical leader

  • Interface with and support the client on Occupational Health matters

  • Direct the medical practice of PA/NPs

  • Offer consultation and educational support to PA/NPs

  • Provide outpatient-level occupational medicine services

  • Conduct medical surveillance programs and regulatory exams

  • Treat work-related conditions and provide urgent care for non-work-related issues

  • Perform fit-for-duty, pre-placement, and DOT evaluations

  • Utilize MD Guidelines effectively

  • Assess and stabilize patients requiring EMS or a higher level of care

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid and unrestricted medical licenses in Illinois and Iowa

  • Current DEA registration and any applicable state-controlled substances registrations

  • BLS certification

  • DOT certification

Acceptable board certifications/experience:

  • Board Certification in Occupational Medicine

  • OR Dual Board Certification in Occupational Medicine and a Primary Care Specialty

  • OR Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice with a Sports Medicine fellowship

  • OR Board Certification in Emergency Medicine with strong orthopedic and occupational health experience
