Med Ninjas is seeking a Hospitalist - OB for long term locum tenens coverage at a inpatient facility located in Des Moines, IA
The Physician must be available for the complete coverage block from ASAP to 12/31/2026
This assignment includes Inpatient, onsite hospital coverage, labor management, deliveries, OBED/L&D support, VBAC and twin deliveries, and on call weekend.

End Date: 12/31/2026
Position Details: Sole OB physician on site during the 24-hour shift; responsible for unassigned deliveries and emergent cases; rapid evaluation and management of obstetric patients; labor management; delivery assistance; OBED and L&D support; supervision of residents and medical students; Epic documentation and order entry.
Patient Population: Obstetric patients, OBED patients, emergent vaginal deliveries and C-sections, patients without a primary OB/GYN, high-acuity and complex obstetric patients
Setting: Inpatient hospital; 8-bed OBED
Responsibilities: Managing labor and performing deliveries; supporting OBED and L&D; rapid evaluation and management of obstetric patients; managing high-acuity obstetric cases; coordinating admissions and transfers; operative care and peer-to-peer communication; antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care; fetal monitoring; procedures; delivery assistance; courtesy deliveries; OB consults; collaboration with midwives; supervising residents and medical students; communication and handoffs; documentation and order entry in Epic
Required Procedures: Vaginal deliveries, C-sections, VBAC and twin deliveries
EMR System: Epic
Support Staff: Residents on-site; MFM on call; midwives associated with PHC; medical imaging, lab and pharmacy available
Days Per Month: Please provide average number of shifts per month
On-Call/Weekends: 24/7 in-house call; weekends required; physicians cannot work more than two 24-hour shifts in a row

- Management of high-acuity obstetric emergencies
Requirements
- Board Certified in OB/GYN or truly Board Eligible
- Active IA License, Active IMLC with LOQ, or new license candidate for 2027 dates
- Must provide exact dates available and average number of shifts per month
- Provider cannot be local to the Des Moines area
