Job description
A healthcare facility in Virginia is seeking an OB/GYN (MD/DO) for locum tenens coverage focused on inpatient OB/GYN responsibilities with 24-hour call coverage. This need is in place while the team recruits a permanent OB/GYN, with ongoing coverage needs anticipated.
The schedule is primarily 24-hour call shifts (9:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.) not limited to the hospital, with the possibility of weekend call block. There are some 24-hour in house shifts available as well. Must be willing to do both
Job Responsibilities
Number of providers needed: One
ORs: Two operating rooms in Labor & Delivery
Average callbacks: Approximately five on weeknights
Average weekend admissions: Approximately four
EMR: EPIC
Department description: Inpatient OB/GYN coverage with laborist and 24-hour call responsibilities
Qualifications
Active Virginia License
ACLS
BLS
Working Hours
Providers must be willing to cover both non-restricted 24-hour call and potential inpatient laborist/primary call shifts.
If primary inpatient laborist coverage is not found or becomes unavailable, the locum provider may be asked to cover the inpatient laborist/24-hour call shift, restricted to the hospital.
A backup OBGYN will be available in these situations.
Changes to primary inpatient coverage will be communicated immediately.
This has not been a common occurrence.
Weekend call may run from Friday at 9:00 a.m. through Monday at 9:00 a.m.
