Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in the Portland, Oregon area. This position offers a combination of outpatient clinic, inpatient coverage, and call responsibilities, providing an opportunity to care for patients across the full spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology.
The ideal provider will be comfortable managing low- and high-risk pregnancies, routine and complicated deliveries, cesarean sections, fetal monitoring, OB ultrasounds, and a variety of office-based and minor gynecologic procedures.
This is a full-time need, although we are also open to two providers sharing coverage on either a 1 week on/1 week off or 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule.
The provider will work in clinic Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with approximately 8 shifts of call per month. Call will consist of a combination of weekday overnight beeper call and 24-hour weekend beeper call.
Hospital and surgical privileges are required, and candidates must be able to provide sufficient case logs from the past 24 months to support both OB and GYN privileges.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Evaluate and manage obstetric and gynecologic patients
Provide prenatal care for low- and high-risk pregnancies
Monitor fetal well-being and interpret fetal heart rate tracings
Perform and interpret OB ultrasounds
Manage routine vaginal deliveries
Perform low-forceps deliveries when indicated
Make clinical decisions regarding cesarean delivery
Perform cesarean sections
Manage complicated obstetric deliveries
Manage breech presentations and multiple births
Evaluate and manage placental abruptions and other obstetric complications
Repair third- and fourth-degree lacerations
Provide gynecologic evaluation and treatment
Perform office-based and minor gynecologic procedures
Assist with minor GYN and OR surgical cases as needed
Manage emergency gynecologic conditions, including ectopic pregnancy
Participate in weekday and weekend beeper call
Collaborate with hospital, clinic, nursing, and surgical teams
Maintain appropriate documentation and patient records
Qualifications
Ability to independently manage routine and complicated deliveries
Comfortable performing cesarean sections
Ability to manage obstetric emergencies
Proficiency with fetal monitoring and interpretation
Ability to perform and interpret appropriate OB ultrasound studies
Strong office-based gynecologic procedural skills
Ability to participate in inpatient and outpatient care
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to respond appropriately to urgent and emergent OB/G

During 24-hour call shifts, providers should anticipate approximately 0–2 deliveries, although there may be call shifts with no deliveries.
