OB/GYN Physician Locum Need In MA

Coverage Dates

• Start Date: 1/1/2027
• End Date: 9/3/2027
• Assignment Length: Approximately 9 months
• 2 L&D shifts per week
• Combination of day and night coverage required

Schedule

• Night coverage is required
• All providers must be willing to work a combination of days and nights
• Monday–Thursday:
  • Days: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Nights: 5:00 PM–8:00 AM
• Friday:
  • Day: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Night: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Saturday & Sunday:
  • 7:00 PM–7:00 AM weekend coverage
• 100% inpatient coverage
• In-house coverage only
• No clinic
• No telehealth

Practice Setting

• Labor & Delivery
• Inpatient OB/GYN
• Postpartum
• Emergency GYN OR cases
• Emergency Department consultations
• EMR: Epic
• Epic and OBIX training required

Patient Volume

• Approximately 1,200 births per year
• Average approximately 20 patients per day

Support Staff

• Certified Nurse Midwives onsite 24/7
• Physician Assistants onsite 24/7
• Backup OB physician onsite 24/7
• PA works alongside the OB/GYN physician as part of the OB team
• Midwives manage and admit patients on their own service

Responsibilities / Procedures

• Provide inpatient Labor & Delivery coverage
• Manage OB/GYN inpatients
• Provide postpartum coverage
• Manage emergent GYN OR cases
• Provide ED consultations
• Manage and oversee admissions for physician-service patients
• Perform C-sections and other OB/GYN procedures as clinically required
• Maintain continuous communication with the PA regarding physician-service patients

APP Support / Responsibilities

• PA performs postpartum rounding
• Assists with L&D triage
• Assists with ED consultations
• First assists on C-sections
• First assists on GYN OR cases
• Assists with admissions
• Writes H&Ps
• Assists with orders and consultations

Requirements

• MD required
• Board Certification in OB/GYN required
• Active Massachusetts medical license required
• Facility will not consider providers without Massachusetts licensure
• Must be willing and able to work both day and night shifts
• Flu vaccination required with no exceptions or waivers accepted
