We are seeking a Locum Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician to provide ongoing coverage in Ketchikan, AK. This opportunity offers a flexible 0.25 FTE schedule, requiring approximately one week of coverage per month, with a combination of outpatient clinic care, inpatient services, labor & delivery coverage, and 24 hour call.
The physician will provide full scope General OB/GYN services in a Critical Access Hospital setting while working alongside another OB/GYN, Emergency Department physicians, and hospitalists. The role offers a broad clinical scope with both outpatient & inpatient responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive General OB/GYN services
• Evaluate & manage obstetric and gynecologic patients
• Provide outpatient clinic services
• Perform inpatient consultations, rounding & admissions
• Provide labor & delivery coverage
• Manage patients presenting through Labor & Delivery and the Emergency Department
• Provide 24 hour OB/GYN call coverage
• Assist with hospital emergencies when needed
• Coordinate patient care with Emergency Department physicians & hospitalists
• Provide continuity of care across inpatient & outpatient settings
Procedures & Clinical Scope
• Provide full scope General OB/GYN care
• Manage labor & delivery patients
• Perform appropriate OB/GYN procedures within demonstrated clinical proficiency
• Provide surgical support when needed, including first assist when another provider or hand is required
• Maintain current clinical case logs as required
Documentation & Collaboration
• Maintain accurate & timely documentation in EPIC
• Participate in hospital & clinic workflows
• Collaborate with the second OB/GYN provider who is available for shared call coverage
• Work collaboratively with ED and hospitalist teams
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and clinical standards
Qualifications
• Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Active Alaska medical license required, or ability and willingness to obtain an Alaska license quickly
• Current OB/GYN clinical experience
• Full scope General OB/GYN experience
• EPIC experience required
• 24 months of clinical case logs required
• Ability to provide inpatient & outpatient care
• Ability to provide labor & delivery coverage
• Willingness to participate in 24 hour call
• Ability to meet facility credentialing requirements
• COVID vaccination required with no exemptions
Working Hours
• Approximately 0.25 FTE
• Approximately one week of coverage per month
• Clinic: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Night call Monday through Friday
• 24 hour weekend call Saturday & Sunday
• Call may involve 2 to 3 day stretches
• A clinic day may occur between call shifts
• Approximately 7 days of first or second call coverage
• 24 hour call for Labor & Delivery & Emergency Department needs
• Coverage begins December 7, 2026
• Initial assignment through April 23, 2027
• Ongoing coverage expected with potential extension
