We're partnering with a well-established hospital in Southern Virginia that is seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN physician for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. The facility is looking for physicians who are comfortable providing both hospital call and outpatient clinic coverage.

Practice Details

This position offers a combination of clinic and hospital responsibilities.

Outpatient Clinic

• Monday-style daytime schedule

• 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

• One-hour lunch break

• Approximately 20 scheduled patients per day

• No overnight call when assigned to clinic-only coverage

Hospital Call

• 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)

• Clinic hours on call days typically run from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM, allowing time for morning hospital rounds

• Call ratio of 1:4

• Low callback volume (typically fewer than one callback per shift)

Clinical Responsibilities

Physicians should be comfortable performing:

• Vaginal Deliveries

• Cesarean Sections

• Suction D&C

• Management of Ectopic Pregnancies

• Ovarian Torsion

• Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

• General Obstetric and Gynecologic Care

Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists manage most high-risk pregnancies, while dedicated laborists care for unassigned obstetric patients, helping create a balanced and well-supported workload.

• Three to Four Nurses Per Shift

• Average of Two to Three Nursery Admissions Daily

Candidates must have:

• Board Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG)

• Active Virginia Medical License

• Active Virginia DEA Registration

• Active Virginia Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)

• Current BLS Certification

• Ability to provide both clinic and 24-hour call coverage

• Availability for one or more of the listed coverage dates

Credentialing Requirements

To meet hospital credentialing standards, candidates must provide:

• Procedure logs documenting at least:

  • 50 deliveries within the past 12 months

  • 15 Cesarean Sections within the past 12 months

• Self-Query NPDB Report (completed within 30 days of presentation)

• Current CV with complete locum work history

• NPI and/or Medical License Number

• Professional References (if available)
