Job description The Lead Obstetrician/Gynecologist provides clinical leadership and oversight for comprehensive women’s health services, including obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive care.

This role combines direct patient care with medical leadership responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care. The Lead OB/GYN also supports clinical operations, provider performance, quality improvement, and the growth of women’s health programs across multiple sites.

Clinical Leadership & Oversight:
Provide clinical leadership for OB/GYN services across all sites
Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and best practices in obstetrics and gynecology
Serve as a mentor, supervisor, and clinical resource for OB/GYN providers and support staff
Lead peer review processes, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives

Direct Patient Care:
Deliver comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including prenatal, postpartum, family planning, and general gynecology services
Perform routine and high-risk OB/GYN procedures within scope of practice
Participate in on-call coverage and maintain hospital privileges as required
Ensure continuity of care and appropriate referrals to specialty and ancillary services

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (including DOH, HRSA, and affiliated hospital requirements)
Support risk management activities, including incident review, documentation standards, and patient safety initiatives
Participate in audits, chart reviews, and accreditation readiness activities

Program Development & Operations:
Collaborate with executive and operational leadership to improve access, patient flow, and service delivery
Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of OB/GYN providers
Contribute to strategic planning for women’s health services, including integration with primary care and behavioral health
Monitor clinical productivity, outcomes, and patient satisfaction metrics

Collaboration & Community Engagement:
Work closely with nursing leadership, care coordination, behavioral health, and social services teams to deliver integrated, whole-person care
Represent OB/GYN services on internal committees and external partnerships
Support community outreach and patient education initiatives focused on women’s health

Job Responsibilities

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State
Active DEA registration
Minimum 5 years of clinical OB/GYN experience, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities
Hospital admitting privileges or eligibility to obtain them
This role supervises OB/GYN providers and clinical support staff within the department.
Primarily outpatient clinical settings with administrative responsibilities performed in-office or designated workstations. This role requires evening, weekend, and on-call coverage as needed.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 15 pounds. Must be able to navigate all areas of organizational facilities as required.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel between Client sites, external training sessions, and organizational events as needed.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or safety-net setting
Experience working with diverse, underserved, or high-risk patient populations
Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or other languages preferred)
Experience in clinical protocol development, quality improvement, or medical staff leadership
