Locum - Physician - OB/GYN Opportunity in Petersburg, VA!

This locum OB/GYN role provides urgent coverage across both hospital and potential clinic settings. The position requires flexibility to handle labor and delivery call responsibilities as well as outpatient clinic duties when needed. Providers will work within a collaborative team and support a moderate-volume OB/GYN service.

Dates/Schedule

• Coverage needed: June–July, with potential for ongoing assignment
• Specific dates:
  • June: 22, 26–28
  • July: 4, 5, 30
• Call ratio: 1:4
• Mix of hospital call and optional clinic coverage (no night call required after clinic days)

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Provide OB/GYN care in hospital (L&D, postpartum) and potentially clinic settings
• Perform procedures including C-sections, vaginal deliveries, suction D&C, management of ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and abnormal bleeding
• Handle call responsibilities with low callback volume (less than 1 per 24-hour shift)
• Collaborate with OBHG hospitalists, surgical assistants, and nursing staff (3–4 per shift)
• Work in a facility with 9 L&D beds and 20 postpartum beds
• Manage average of 2–3 nursery admissions per day
• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation
• Laborist covers unreferred patients; MFM manages most high-risk cases

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified in OB/GYN (REQUIRED)
• Active Virginia medical license, DEA, and CSR (REQUIRED)
• ABOG certification and BLS (REQUIRED)
• Ability to cover both clinic and call responsibilities (REQUIRED)
• Availability for listed dates (REQUIRED)
• Clean background with no malpractice (REQUIRED for temporary privileges)
• NPDB self-query report required at submission
• Credentialing timeline: 60–90 days (temporary privileges possible for qualified candidates)
