Position: Locum to Perm OB/GYN Physician

Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite at Bon Secours Richmond OB/GYN at St. Mary’s)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced OB/GYN Physician (MD/DO) to join a collaborative and supportive team in a locum-to-permanent role. This opportunity offers a dynamic work environment with comprehensive patient care, clinical responsibilities, and potential for long-term employment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide obstetric and gynecological care in both office and hospital settings, including routine deliveries, low and high-risk pregnancies, and GYN procedures.
  • Perform obstetric procedures such as fetal heart rate interpretation, OB ultrasounds, and management of labor and delivery.
  • Conduct gynecological procedures, including IUD insertions, colposcopy, LEEP, cystoscopy, and minor office surgeries.
  • Collaborate with midwives and advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.
  • Manage low-risk pregnancies (approximately 90%) and handle high-risk cases (approximately 10%).
  • Document clinical encounters accurately within the EPIC EMR system.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, providing 24/7 coverage on scheduled days.

Schedule & Coverage Details:
  • Office hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • On-call hours: 24/7 coverage including weekdays and weekends, via a dedicated call system.
  • Duration: May 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026.
  • Call ratio: 1 in 4.
  • Average patients per day: 25-30.
  • Support staff includes a dedicated CMA, LPN, and RN per provider.

Facility & Resources:
  • Modern OB/GYN office with three exam rooms per provider, onsite lab, and ultrasound facilities.
  • Experienced technical staff conducting ultrasounds and fetal monitoring.
  • Level IIID NICU available for neonatal support.

Qualifications:
  • MD or DO with valid license to practice in Virginia.
  • Board certified or eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Proven experience managing diverse OB/GYN cases, including both routine and complex procedures.
  • Comfortable performing deliveries, including VBACs and C-sections.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
