Bon Secours Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center is seeking Board-Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologists to provide locum Labor & Delivery–focused call coverage. This opportunity offers a well-supported hospital environment with experienced nursing, midwifery, and APP support.

Position Overview

  • Practice Setting: Hospital-based OB/GYN

  • Focus: ~90% Labor & Delivery

  • Coverage Needs: 2 providers to assist at least once per month

  • Call Schedule: Weekend call (Friday–Sunday)

  • Call Ratio: 1:4 (current)

  • Number of OB/GYNs in Practice: 4

  • APP Coverage: 1 APP per 12-hour shift

  • No additional OB/GYN coverage during locum dates

Facility Details

  • Hospital Size: 205 beds

  • L&D / Postpartum / Triage: 34 beds

  • Nursery Level: Level II

  • Average Nursery Admissions: 4 per day

  • Onsite Services: Lab and Ultrasound

  • Support Staff: Dedicated L&D nurses and midwives

  • EMR: Epic

Patient Mix

  • Low-Risk OB: 60%

  • High-Risk OB: 40%

  • GYN: 60%

  • Average GYN Surgeries: 5 per day

  • C-Section Rate: Approximately 1 per day

Required Clinical Experience

Obstetrics

  • Low- and high-risk pregnancy management

  • FHR interpretation (NST, CST, FSE)

  • OB ultrasound performance and interpretation (Level I / screening / viability)

Labor & Delivery

  • Vaginal deliveries (routine and complicated)

  • C-sections and decision-making

  • Breech and multiple births

  • VBACs

  • Repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations

Gynecology

  • Open and laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures

  • Tubal ligation, LOA’s, chromal tubation

  • Ectopic pregnancy management

  • Oophorectomy, cystectomy, extensive LOA’s

Credentialing & Logistics

  • Estimated Credentialing: 30–90 days

  • Emergency Temporary Privileges: Available

Submission Requirements

  • Board Certified OB/GYN – Required

  • Active or pending Ohio licenseRequired

  • BLS & ACLS – Required

  • Active DEA – Required

  • Clean malpractice history – Required

  • NPDB Self-Query (dated within 30 days of presentation)Required
