Facility in Cumberland, MD seeking ObGyn locums coverage
Rates: 24-hour call rate: $5000 all-inclusive
Holiday rate multiplier: 1.5x
Travel./lodging is covered by the client
Malpractice and tail covered.
A facility in western Maryland is seeking a Board Certified OB/GYN to join its locum tenens bench for 24-hour in-house call coverage. This opportunity offers flexible, part-time coverage as needs arise, with strong anesthesia and nursing support and a stable labor and delivery environment.
Position Details
Specialty: Obstetrics & Gynecology
Practice Setting: Inpatient, hospital-based
Location: Cumberland, MD
Reason for Coverage: Ongoing coverage needs
Trauma Level: Level III
Schedule and Coverage
24-hour in-house OB/GYN call
Shift time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Potential for 1–4 shifts per month as needs arise
Estimated shifts per month: up to 4
Preference for locums not to work more than 48 consecutive hours
Clinical Responsibilities
Cover all labor and delivery cases and emergent GYN surgeries during the call period
Manage antepartum and postpartum rounding
Participate in cesarean deliveries scheduled by the service
Clinical Volume and Environment
Average admissions while on call: approximately 5–7
Average deliveries per 24-hour shift: approximately 3
Typical daily L&D census (including postpartum): 6–10 patients
Average emergent GYN surgeries per shift: fewer than 2
Rounding expectations: 7–10 antepartum and postpartum patients per day
The hospital averages approximately 900 deliveries per year and has a Level II NICU with a gestational age cutoff of 24 weeks.
Practice Support
Anesthesia is onsite 24/7
Nurses and CRNAs perform neonatal resuscitation
Some midwife coverage (not 24/7)
Two additional community practices deliver at the facility
ICU services available
Physicians do not work solo

Privileges available: Temporary privileges
Estimated time to privileges: approximately 30 days
Requirements
Board Certified in OB/GYN – required
Minimum of 2 years’ experience – required
Ability to perform inductions for VBACs – required and must be noted at presentation
Active Maryland license or willingness to obtain – required, IMLC accepted as well
DEA – required
BLS, ACLS, and CPR – required
CSR license – required
