Locum OB/GYN Opportunity – Carlsbad Medical Center | Carlsbad, NM
Carlsbad Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN for ongoing locum tenens call coverage beginning August 21–25, 2025, with the same coverage needed in September, October, and November. This is a great opportunity to provide meaningful care in a supportive community setting.
Opportunity Highlights:
- Location: Carlsbad, NM (Pecos Valley of New Mexico)
- Start Date: August 20, 2025 (first coverage August 21–25)
- Ongoing Monthly Need: August, September, October, November
- Setting: Inpatient and outpatient
- Schedule: Call-only (beeper), 24-hour coverage
- Call Response Time: 30 minutes
- Hospital Type: Level III Trauma Center
- Deliveries Per Year: ~500
- Beds in Department: 8
Job Responsibilities
• Average 2–10 patients per shift
• No supervision of residents or APPs required
• Rounding on assigned patients
• EMR: Clinview/HMS
Qualifications
• Board Certified in OB/GYN
• Active NM License or willing to obtain
• ABLS, ACLS, and BLS required
• Willing to obtain temporary privileges (available)
• Credentialing: ~30 days
Skills
• Low-risk pregnancy
• Routine deliveries- vaginal and c-section deliveries
• OB ultrasounds -viability & anatomic preferred
Preferred Procedures/Skills:
• breech, multiple births, and complicated deliveries, Management of high-risk pregnancies
• Office/minor GYN procedures: IUD, colposcopy, LEEP, cystoscopy, cryosurgery-
• GYN surgery: laparoscopic and open cases (ectopic pregnancy, ovarian procedures, extensive LOAs)
• Repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations
