Locums Nocturnist Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Nocturnist Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Petoskey, MI. This position provides overnight care for adult inpatient medical patients in a hospital-based setting, with an average census of approximately 16 patients per day. The ideal candidate has strong internal medicine skills and experience managing adult inpatients outside the ICU/CCU.

Schedule & Practice Details

• 12-hour overnight shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required
• Initially, one shift every four weeks, transitioning to every other week beginning in December
• Average patient census: Approximately 16 inpatients
• Patient population: Adult inpatient
• ICU/CCU coverage: Not required
• On-call responsibilities: None specified
• EHR: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight medical care for adult hospitalized patients.
• Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Perform patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed.
• Coordinate care with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in Cerner.
• Respond to inpatient medical needs during assigned shifts.

Qualifications & Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Active DEA registration
