Job Description

Last Update: 4/11/24

To our prospective teammates,

I’m the hospitalist medical director for Sound Physicians at the Community Hospital of San Bernardino in San Bernardino, CA. I joined the hospitalist team at our sister facility, St. Bernardine’s, in 2018 and transitioned to the medical director role at Community Hospital in 2020. We are a small but mighty team looking to grow our team. I’d like to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your next steps:

People
  • Become a valued member of our team of six hospitalist physicians.
  • Experience the strength of our team’s diversity, with clinicians from varied geographic, educational, and training backgrounds, creating a supportive and inclusive culture.
  • Within the hospital, we work closely with our colleagues in other departments to ensure a smooth transition of care.
Practice
  • We work in an open ICU environment, but no procedures are required. The Sound critical care team is the backup for procedures.
  • We use Cerner EMR and have access to Sound Physicians’ internal informatics platform.
  • Expected annual compensation is based on shifts and experience level and with Sound. The base shift rate for the first two years is $255,130, and it will increase to $270,930 with the regular rotation of day and night shifts. Quality and productivity incentives are in addition to the shift pay.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
  • Internal medicine and family medicine candidates are eligible. Candidates must be board-certified or eligible with the expectation of obtaining certification.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
