Company Information
As a physician-founded and led medical group, we believe that a better career—one with strong support and meaningful opportunity—leads to better care for patients. That’s why our promise is to bring better to the bedside: better ideas, better approaches, better care.
We practice hospital-based medicine at the community level, with empowered local teams and leadership supported by a nationwide network. Our multi-specialty medical group includes more than 4,000 physicians, advanced practice providers, CRNAs, and nurses working across 400 hospitals in 45 states.
At Sound, each of us is a care catalyst—creating exceptional clinical partnerships that unlock quality, affordable, and dignified care for every patient. We offer greater autonomy, flexibility, and support in your role and within your specialty, so you can focus on building meaningful connections across teams and communities.
Uncompromising care is a collective effort. While our clinicians provide care at the bedside, our business colleagues play a vital role—building strong teams, forming key partnerships, attracting great talent, and keeping operations running smoothly. Their work ensures our clinicians can stay focused on what matters most: caring for patients.
We are unified by purpose and driven by impact. With competitive total rewards and opportunities for purposeful growth and focused development, we empower you in your role and career. Together, we support our patients, our partners, and each other.
Company History
In 2001, emergency physician Dr. Robert Bessler saw the need for a medical group that kept clinicians’ real, on-the-ground experiences at the heart. So he built it.
From a small startup in Tacoma to one of the largest medical groups in the country, Sound has grown into a destination practice for more than 4,000 physicians, advanced practice providers, CRNAs, and nurses across 400+ hospitals nationwide.
Dr. Bessler recognized early on that the key to improving outcomes, reducing administrative burden, and lowering costs was simple: let clinicians focus on what they do best—caring for patients.
Today, Sound continues to create an environment where clinicians—and the patients who rely on them—can thrive. Our private equity backing removes the mental load of running a business, while clinician leadership at every level ensures medical experts remain the loudest voice at the table.
As we grow and innovate across new practice areas like telemedicine, anesthesia, and Sound ACO, we remain grounded in a belief that drives everything we do:
A better career—one with strong support and meaningful opportunity—leads to better care.
At Sound, every role is a care catalyst—creating exceptional clinical partnerships that unlock quality, affordable, and dignified care for everyone, no matter who they are or where they live.
Together, we support our patients, our partners, and each other—delivering uncompromising care where it matters most.
