The Opportunity
Cover overnight tele-neurology for partner hospitals from the comfort of your home. Ideal for experienced inpatient physicians holding an active TX or CA license.
Assignment Details
- Location: Remote / Tele-Health (covering sites in TX and/or CA)
- Start Date: Flexible
- Duration: Ongoing
- Schedule: Overnight coverage, 12 am - 8 am Eastern. 10 overnight shifts/month; shifts do not need to be consecutive.
- TX: 3 FTEs open - 11 pm - 7 am CT
- CA: 3 FTEs open - 9 pm - 5 am PT
- Only one state license required (TX or CA) - licenses in both states are not needed at this time
- Setting: Inpatient tele-neurology; ED and inpatient consults with stroke coverage required.
- Pods: Targeted 2-3 sites per overnight shift.
- Volume: Approx. 1 consult per hour (typically 8-10 per night); average productivity 0.74
What You'll Do
- Provide overnight tele-neurology coverage across 2-3 partner sites per shift
- Respond to ED requests for admissions and handle any issue the onsite physician cannot, so the onsite doc can rest until morning
- Manage neurologic needs that do not require the on-call neurologist to come in, including stroke alerts
- Collaborate with onsite physicians, nursing teams, and the on-call neurologist; a central command center provides backup if simultaneous alerts come in at different facilities (you will not be expected to manage both)
- Support continuity of care
Requirements
- Required licensure: Active state license in either TX or CA (both not required)
- Certifications: Stroke coverage experience required
- Experience expectations: At least 2 years of recent inpatient experience
- Clean NPDB preferred
