TBI Physician – Veterans Disability Examinations
Location: Within 25 miles of Birmingham, Alabama
Schedule: Per diem, approximately three days per week
Pay: $1,600 per day
Job Type: Contract/per diem
Work Location: In person; a personal clinical office is not required
Frontera Search Partners is seeking an MD or DO to conduct traumatic brain injury (TBI) Compensation and Pension (C&P) disability examinations for Veterans in the Birmingham, AL area. This need is for approximately three days per week. Physicians do not need to own or provide a clinical office.
This is an evaluation-only role. The physician reviews relevant records, conducts in-person TBI assessments, documents findings in Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), and provides medical opinions when requested. There is no ongoing treatment, medication management, or prescribing. Examiners do not determine Veterans’ disability ratings or compensation.
Responsibilities

Review relevant service treatment records, medical histories, and prior examination reports

Conduct in-person evaluations of reported TBI symptoms and residuals

Assess cognitive, physical, and behavioral findings as appropriate to the examination request

Complete applicable DBQs and requested medical opinions

Document findings accurately in an electronic platform and submit reports within required timelines

Respond to requests for clarification when additional documentation is needed

Provide a professional, respectful examination experience for every Veteran
Required Qualifications

MD or DO with an active, unrestricted license appropriate for practice in Alabama

Board eligible or board certified in neurology, neurosurgery, physiatry/physical medicine and rehabilitation, or psychiatry

Ability to work in person within 25 miles of Birmingham approximately three days per week

At least one year of clinical experience

Strong assessment, documentation, and computer skills

Ability to complete credentialing and background-screening requirements
Previous C&P examination, TBI assessment, or Veteran care experience is preferred. Training on the C&P process and documentation requirements is provided.
