Locum Tenens Neurology Physician Opportunity

Position Overview

We are seeking a Neurology Physician for a locum tenens opportunity with an acute care hospital in southwestern Washington. This position offers a combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital responsibilities, including rounding, admissions, consultations, and overnight call coverage.

The physician will join an established neurology team and work collaboratively with other physicians and an advanced practice provider.

Schedule & Call

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• 8-hour daytime clinic shifts
• 24-hour call coverage in addition to scheduled clinic responsibilities
• Coverage requested approximately 1 week per month
• Preferred call coverage of 3–5 days per week
• Typical call volume is approximately 0–4 calls/texts per 24-hour period
• Most call responsibilities are managed by telephone
• In-house consultations may be required when the physician is onsite
• No block scheduling

Clinical Responsibilities

The physician will provide both inpatient and outpatient neurology services, including:

• Outpatient neurology evaluations and management
• Inpatient rounding
• Hospital admissions
• Neurology consultations
• Adult patient care
• Overnight call coverage
• In-house consultations as needed
• EEG procedures
• EMG procedures

Average patient volume is approximately 16 patients per day.

Practice Setting

• Acute care hospital
• Approximately 122 beds
• Adult trauma services
• Inpatient and outpatient practice
• Clinic located within the hospital
• Established neurology team
• Approximately 1.5 FTE physicians and 1.0 NP
• EPIC electronic medical record
• Physicians are not expected to work entirely independently

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Neurology specialty
• Washington medical license in hand at time of presentation
• IMLC may be considered
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Ability to obtain required hospital and clinic privileges
• Inpatient and outpatient neurology experience
• Experience with EEG and EMG

Trauma experience is preferred.

Patient Population & Clinical Volume

• Adult patients, age 17+
• Approximately 16 patients per day
• Rounding and admissions required
• Both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
• EEG and EMG experience required
