Job description
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, participate in education and outreach initiatives, and contribute to continuous quality and performance improvement within the neurology service. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team in a supportive, academic hospital environment.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as consulting neurologist for unassigned and private patients, including initial consults and follow-ups on the medical floor, Neuro/Stroke Unit, and ICU.
Share general neurology call coverage (approximately 1:4 rotation).
Precept the Neurology clinic (1 morning per week) at the DePaul Center.
Collaborate with designated Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) assigned to neurology/stroke.
Manage a private practice office with a mix of subspecialty and general neurology patients.
Participate in ongoing clinical research and clinical trials.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Interface with hospital administration regarding staffing, capital requirements, and resource allocation for efficient service delivery.
Assist in the development of clinical guidelines for neurology.
Attend neurology, stroke, and Department of Medicine meetings as required.
Develop Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Performance Improvement (PI) plans with staff, review outcomes, and implement corrective action strategies.
Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives within the Division of Neurology.
Support marketing development and outreach initiatives to hospital and community physicians.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Neurology and Chairman of Medicine.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Teach and precept medical residents and students rotating through Neurology.
Deliver lectures, Grand Rounds, and M&M conferences for medical residents as requested.
Collaborate with Nursing and other departments in educational efforts related to Neurology.
Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility in Neurology.
Valid medical license in the state of practice.
Strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to quality improvement, education, and research.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Subspecialty fellowship training (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, neurocritical care).
Academic experience or prior teaching involvement.
Experience in hospital administration or quality improvement initiatives.
