New Job Details – Neurology
Location: Southern California
Specialty: Neurology / Neuro-Oncology
Duration: November – June
Schedule: Full-time
Clinic shift: Monday – Friday, 8a-5p (every week per month)
Call: Yes, low volume after hours call from 5p-8a for phone calls and urgent inpatient consults
Scope of practice: 100% neuro related conditions caused by cancer treatment. All patients are currently undergoing or have previously undergone cancer treatment. Neuropathology, EEG (absolutely required), Epilepsy, Seizures, Neurophysiology, Headache, neuro diagnostics (option for EMG if candidate is interested, not required).
Scope of IP: Inpatient (IP) consults primarily seizures and altered mental status
Inpatient volumes: 0-2 consults per day
EMR: EPIC
Hospital: stand-alone cancer center with evaluation treatment center
Group/support: MA and Nurses help put in the orders. EEG techs to run the studies. 3.5 other neurologists in the group that work at other clinics. No APPs. PMR support for pain if need be. Will be solo neurologist in the office. If high level trauma situations occur, patients will get transferred across the street

- Contracted consultants would be required to provide neurologic consultations and urgent follow-ups; ideally read EEGs; and optionally (rarely) perform inpatient EMG. Spinal taps may also be helpful, but I assume OC will have IR doing them.
- STAT consults with be expected to be seen within 1 hour.
- Routine consult should be seen by end of shift and nonurgent consults could be deferred to the onsite neurologist.
