Position Highlights:
- Specialty: Nephrology
- Location: California
- Coverage Type: Locum Tenens – Inpatient Rounding + Call
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Duration: Through June 2027
- Schedule: One week per month (Monday AM to Monday AM)
- Schedule Flexibility: Physicians can select their preferred coverage week each month.
- EMR: Epic
- Patient Volume: Approximately 15 patients per day on weekdays and 20 on weekends.
Schedule & Responsibilities:
- Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Inpatient hospital rounding, primarily focused on Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) cases.
- Monday – Friday | 5:00 PM – 9:00 AM: Overnight call coverage, with minimal callbacks anticipated.
- Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 9:00 AM: Weekend on-call coverage.
Clinical Support & Workload:
- Strong clinical support from Hospitalists, Internists, Residents, and APPs.
- Primarily AKI-focused cases.
- No transplant cases.
- No required procedures.
- Minimal anticipated overnight callback volume.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Malpractice Insurance: Full malpractice coverage, including tail coverage.
- Travel & Accommodation: Lodging and logistics fully covered.
Requirements:
- MD/DO with Board Certification in Nephrology.
- Active California medical license.
- Ability to provide one week (seven consecutive days) of coverage per month.
