Job description
Neonatology locums coverage in Kentucky with a Level III NICU and NNP support.
Highlights
- Ongoing need, about 15 shifts per month
- Level III NICU with 20 total beds, 8 Level III and 12 Level II
- NNP coverage is 24/7, with neonatologist backup as needed
Practice Setting
- Inpatient NICU coverage, newborns including as early as 27 weeks gestational age
- Team includes neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and specialized NICU nurses
- Higher level transfers for certain specialized surgeries
- Vacancy is to provide time off for a permanent provider
Schedule
- 24 hour call model, typically onsite in the morning and early afternoon, then pager call overnight
- Handoff is around 2pm by phone
- Overnight call is remote, available if the NNP needs assistance
- Start date is mid December 2026, with ongoing monthly coverage needs
Cases and Procedures
- NICU care for premature and term newborns, including very preterm infants
- Share attending high risk deliveries and C sections with the NP
Requirements
- Must be an MD or DO
- Board certified in Neonatology
- Active Kentucky license required, will not wait for license
