Job description
Solomon Page is seeking an experienced Neonatologist to provide ongoing Level III NICU coverage. This role requires an experienced provider comfortable with high-acuity neonates, procedures, and supervising Family Medicine residents. Coverage is needed monthly, January 11–20 (ending the 21st AM) on a recurring basis.
Responsibilities

Provide Level III NICU coverage

Round once daily in the NICU
-
Respond to nursing calls and present onsite for clinical needs
-
No nursery rounding (covered by Pediatric Hospitalists)
-
Average callback: 4.7 hours
-
Orientation required the business day prior (afternoon)
-
Support staff includes NICU nurses, FM residents, Laborists, and Pediatric Hospitalists
-
No APP support
-
Patient census: 7–12 NICU patients/day

Coverage dates required each month:
-
January 11–20 (ending Jan 21 AM)

Same date pattern needed every month ongoing

Required Clinical Skills / Procedures
Provider must be proficient in high-acuity neonatology, including:
-
Ventilatory assistance, including ETT CPAP
-
Nasal CPAP (>4 hrs), NCPAP >6 cm H2O, FiO₂ > 0.60
-
Surfactant administration beyond initial dose
-
Cardiac pressor administration
-
FiO₂ > 0.60
-
PaCO₂ > 50 on 2 ABGs 1 hr apart
-
Peripheral arterial or central line placement
-
Chest tube insertion
-
Total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
-
Exchange transfusion
-
Care of neonates <32 weeks gestation
-
Care of neonates <1600 grams
Requirements
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine

Active state medical license
-
BLS, NRP, DEA required
-
Must be listed as a paneled provider with California Children Services (CCS)

Significant recent Neonatology experience (not pediatrics)

Clean malpractice history

Must be active staff at a TJC-accredited hospital with unrestricted privileges

Available for all required monthly dates

Must meet criteria for temporary/locum privileges (30-day timeframe)
