Perinatologist / Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Perinatologist provides specialized care for pregnant patients with high-risk or medically complex pregnancies. This role focuses on advanced obstetric management, fetal assessment, and coordination of multidisciplinary care to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes throughout pregnancy and the peripartum period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage high-risk pregnancies including maternal medical comorbidities, obstetric complications, and fetal anomalies

Provide consultation services to obstetricians, family medicine physicians, and other referring providers

Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasound and fetal diagnostic studies

Develop and manage individualized care plans for complex maternal and fetal conditions

Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care for high-risk obstetric patients as appropriate

Collaborate with neonatology, genetics, anesthesia, cardiology, endocrinology, and other specialties
-
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings

Counsel patients and families regarding pregnancy risks, fetal conditions, and management options

Supervise and educate residents, fellows, sonographers, and advanced practice providers as applicable

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
-
Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
-
Completion of an accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program
-
Completion of an accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship
-
Board-eligible or board-certified in Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure

DEA registration or eligibility

Work Environment

Outpatient maternal-fetal medicine clinics, hospital labor and delivery units, and inpatient obstetric services

Call coverage as determined by program or practice needs
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, and move throughout clinic and hospital environments

Manual dexterity for ultrasound procedures and clinical examinations

Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and diagnostic interpretation
