Job description
Client is seeking an experienced Medical Director Physician to provide clinical leadership and physician oversight at Davidson Detention Centers in Nashville, Tennessee.
This is an opportunity for a physician leader to oversee healthcare delivery within a correctional healthcare setting while supporting a multidisciplinary clinical team. The Medical Director will serve as the responsible physician and health authority for the facility, ensuring quality patient care, evidence-based practices, and coordination of medical services.
The role combines clinical leadership, provider support, quality oversight, and direct patient care while maintaining a strong focus on safety, continuity, and collaboration.
Job Responsibilities
Provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for facility healthcare services
Supervise and support physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff
Deliver and oversee sick call, chronic care, infirmary care, and urgent medical services
Coordinate specialty referrals and off-site medical care when needed
Review and maintain clinical protocols, policies, and quality standards
Support APPs through clinical guidance and collaboration
Participate in provider training, credentialing, and quality improvement initiatives
Ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with healthcare standards
Qualifications
MD or DO with active medical license
Board certification preferred
Experience in hospitalist medicine or sub-acute inpatient care required
Strong physician leadership and team supervision skills
Comfortable managing complex patient populations
Experience supporting multidisciplinary healthcare teams
