We are seeking a Board Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to serve as a Part-Time Medical Director with Lighthouse Guild in New York City. Lighthouse Guild is a nonprofit healthcare and services organization dedicated to helping individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or experiencing vision loss live independently while receiving comprehensive healthcare and support services.
This is a part-time Medical Director opportunity requiring approximately 10–15 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on the physician's availability. The Medical Director will provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical care while providing clinical oversight, medical direction, and leadership within the Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

Medical Director Responsibilities
The Medical Director will be responsible for medical direction, clinical oversight, policy development, and coordination of patient care within the Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
Medical Leadership & Oversight

Provide medical oversight and direction for the Diagnostic and Treatment Center

Supervise and assess the professional performance of attending physicians and other members of the medical staff

Maintain compliance with applicable New York State health regulations

Direct Limited Service Laboratory activities
-
Recommend, develop, maintain, and revise DTC policies and procedures

Conduct regular medical staff meetings

Participate in and oversee essential DTC functions, including:

Quality Assurance

Infection Control
-
Patient Safety

Recommend and coordinate improvements to medical care programs and clinical operations

Supervise the acquisition and maintenance of medical staff credentialing data

Participate in educational programs, workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities
Requirements & Qualifications

MD or DO degree
-
Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Minimum 5 years of experience as a practicing physician in an outpatient medical clinic

Experience in a hospital-based clinic, freestanding Diagnostic and Treatment Center, or Federally Qualified Health Center preferred

Experience with medical oversight, clinical leadership, or outpatient clinic operations preferred

Strong knowledge of quality assurance, infection control, patient safety, and clinical operations
-
Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

Familiarity with medical coding and billing

Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills
-
Credentialed as a member of the medical staff

Job Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and review patient medical histories
Diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries
Provide preventive healthcare, including vaccinations and routine health screenings
Perform annual wellness examinations
Develop and monitor long-term treatment plans for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
Coordinate patient care and refer patients to specialists when appropriate
Integrate specialist recommendations into comprehensive patient treatment plans
Provide patient and family education regarding nutrition, lifestyle modifications, disease prevention, and overall health maintenance
