She Recruits is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a respected healthcare organization seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine Physician or PM&R Physician to serve as Medical Director of an established inpatient rehabilitation program in Aiken, South Carolina.

Position Highlights

• Full-time Medical Director opportunity
• Monday–Friday schedule

• Typical onsite commitment of approximately 5–6 hours per day

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient medical management for rehabilitation patients.
• Conduct admissions, follow-up evaluations, and ongoing medical management.
• Lead interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with nursing, therapy, case management, and hospital leadership.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development.
• Provide Medical Director oversight while maintaining an active clinical practice.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
• Support regulatory compliance and rehabilitation program excellence.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), or
  • Internal Medicine
• Active South Carolina medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Active DEA registration
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred

• Previous inpatient rehabilitation experience
• Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) rounding experience
• Post-acute care experience
• Previous Medical Director or physician leadership experience

Internal Medicine physicians with experience in rehabilitation or skilled nursing—and those interested in learning the rehabilitation model—are strongly encouraged to apply.
