Our client, a comprehensive community-focused health organization dedicated to serving underserved urban populations, is hiring a Medical Director, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician. This key leadership role involves establishing and maintaining the highest standards of medical care within a Federally Qualified Health Center setting. The Medical Director will provide clinical and administrative oversight across multiple services, including primary care, behavioral health, specialty services, and community outreach, supporting the organization’s mission to deliver holistic, patient-centered care. The position reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and requires active engagement in program planning, staff supervision, quality improvement initiatives, and community collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate medical personnel, including physicians, mid-level practitioners, and specialists.
  • Oversee laboratory and radiology services, managing contracts for medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain a patient panel, ensuring accessible, high-quality care for a diverse population.
  • Develop and update medical protocols and standards; participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Facilitate coordination among clinical departments and with external healthcare partners, especially local hospitals.
  • Lead clinical staff training programs, conduct chart and care reviews, and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
  • Prepare reports on health services, contribute to budget planning, and participate in organizational meetings.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage on a rotational basis and support special projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of clinical and administrative experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensed to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Prior experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or similar multi-site healthcare environment preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with a commitment to community health.
