Permanent Case Management Physician Opportunity in Lewiston, ME
Position Overview:
Seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician to join an inpatient Case Management team in a collaborative, patient-centered hospital setting. This role focuses on optimizing patient care, improving hospital throughput, and supporting efficient utilization of healthcare resources.
Schedule & Workload:
15–16 shifts per month
156-hour monthly requirement
Primarily 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Occasional 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Assignment Details:
Inpatient setting
Average census: 15–17 patients per day
Maximum census: 22 patients
Approximately 12 patient encounters per day
Admissions handled from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Responsibilities:
Round on assigned inpatient service
Perform admissions and coordinate care plans
Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing, and care coordination teams
Support utilization review and medical necessity determinations
Assist with discharge planning and reducing length of stay
Contribute to quality improvement and patient flow initiatives
Requirements:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or related field
Active or eligible for Maine medical license
Experience in hospital medicine, utilization management, or case management preferred
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
