Associate Medical Director

Location: St Louis, MO
Hybrid Leadership & Clinical Role

A fast-growing, physician-led primary care organization is seeking an Associate Medical Director to provide both clinical leadership and direct patient care.

This role blends operational oversight with continued clinical practice, offering the opportunity to influence outcomes across multiple centers while maintaining patient engagement.

Position Overview

The Associate Medical Director supports market-level performance by supervising and mentoring Medical Directors and PCPs, driving clinical excellence, improving financial performance, and fostering strong team culture.

Approximately 20% of time is dedicated to direct patient care, with the remainder focused on leadership and market performance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Clinical Directors and PCPs within assigned market
  • Drive accountability for clinical outcomes, performance metrics, and center growth
  • Support P&L performance and operational efficiency
  • Lead physician development, coaching, and performance management
  • Promote culture aligned with organizational core values and service standards
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing physicians
  • Partner with operational leadership to strengthen clinical-operations synergy
  • Maintain local presence within assigned centers

Qualifications

  • MD or DO (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty)
  • Active Missouri medical license
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience (leadership experience preferred)
  • Experience in managed care or value-based models preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills
  • Comfortable with population health and complex chronic disease management

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary approximately $260,000 – $365,000
