Job Summary:
  • This position will also work on a PRN basis, providing coverage at various DDOD facilities in the Central Ohio area/Southern Ohio area.
  • Coverage assignments will be communicated in advance to allow for proper planning and scheduling.
  • The role ensures continuity of medical services when a physician is unavailable, maintaining high standards of care across facilities.
Job Description:
  • The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing medical care at developmental centers, ensuring compliance with Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) standards. This role involves directing medical services, establishing policies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to safeguard the health and well-being of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct delivery of medical services across facilities.
  • Establish and implement medical policies and procedures aligned with ICF/IID standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (psychology, psychiatry, nursing, case managers, family/guardians) to resolve health and safety concerns.
  • Order and oversee medical interventions including medications, diagnostics, treatments, and referrals.
  • Serve as primary care physician: conduct physicals, diagnose concerns, prescribe medications, and maintain documentation.
  • Partner with Certified Nurse Practitioners at each facility.
  • Consult with facility committees (admissions/discharge, infection control, emergency preparedness, medication review, human rights).
  • Provide medical consultation to external stakeholders such as DD county boards and central office divisions.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification.
  • Valid medical license in Ohio.
