Job description
full-time Nocturnist opportunity at Rome Memorial Hospital in Rome, New York, part of St. Joseph’s Health and Trinity Health. This role offers a manageable overnight census, strong subspecialty and intensivist support, and a collaborative, community-focused inpatient environment. New graduates who are Board Eligible within 1 year are accepted; 1 year of experience preferred.
Job Responsibilities
Perform admissions from the ED and direct referrals, including detailed histories and physicals
Manage acute medical conditions, including patients in an open ICU with 24/7 intensivist support
Document accurately in Paragon EMR
Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, and case management
Develop and coordinate safe discharge plans
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and structured handoffs
Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Maintain compliance with hospital policies and documentation standards
Support educational environment (residents/APPs if applicable)
Qualifications
Active New York medical license or willingness to obtain – Required
Clean malpractice and license history – Required
DEA certification – Required
Most recent NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) – Required
1 year of hospitalist/nocturnist experience preferred
New graduates accepted (if BE within 1 year)
Not accepting visa, Locums, or 1099 candidates
Working Hours
Nocturnist schedule (overnight shifts)
Manageable census: approximately 5–10 patients per night
Skills
