Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and emergency medical care to patients or inmates in state facilities by examining, diagnosing, treating medical conditions, and monitoring patient progress.
- Prescribe, administer, and manage medications and treatments for acute and chronic illnesses, including performing minor surgical procedures when required.
- Conduct physical examinations to assess medical conditions for treatment, claims evaluation, or employment suitability.
- Administer vaccinations and inoculations and support the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings and incorporate results into patient care and treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and determine the need for specialized or referral care.
- Provide clinical guidance to nursing, technical, and paraprofessional staff to support quality patient care.
- Prepare and maintain accurate medical documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, orders, and admission, discharge, and death summaries.
- Must be licensed to practice medicine by the State Medical Board OR (foreign medical graduates must hold a limited license and be eligible for the next board exam).
