Job description
The Family Practice Physician is responsible for providing high-quality, comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages in a community-based, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position focuses on delivering preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute medical services with a strong emphasis on reducing health disparities and improving outcomes in underserved populations. The physician works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physical exams, evaluate patient histories, and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
Provide preventive care services including immunizations, cancer screenings, and lifestyle counseling.
Prescribe medications and develop patient care plans based on evidence-based guidelines.
Perform minor office-based procedures as appropriate (e.g., suturing, skin biopsies, joint injections).
Coordinate care with specialists, behavioral health providers, case managers, and support staff.
Document all patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Participate in call coverage, staff meetings, clinical case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including HRSA, UDS, and NCQA-PCMH guidelines.
Provide culturally competent care and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
Support and mentor other clinical staff, including residents, students, and mid-level providers.
Qualifications
Unrestricted medical license in Georgia
Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine
DEA license with appropriate schedule authority
Current BLS/CPR certification (ACLS preferred)
Experience in a community health, FQHC, or underserved setting preferred
New graduates with strong interest in community health will be considered
