Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. This is an inpatient position providing critical care services to a diverse pediatric and neonatal population in a collaborative hospital environment.
The ideal candidate will have completed a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship and be comfortable managing critically ill newborns, infants, children, and adolescents. The physician will participate in patient admissions, provide critical care management, supervise Advanced Practice Practitioners, and participate in the hospital's call coverage.
The service manages approximately 8–12 patients per shift and offers the opportunity to utilize a broad range of advanced pediatric critical care skills and procedures.
Temporary privileges are available, providing an opportunity for qualified providers to begin the credentialing process efficiently.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage critically ill newborns, infants, children, and adolescents
Perform patient admissions and comprehensive critical care assessments
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
Provide ongoing management of acute and chronic critical illness
Manage patients requiring invasive and non-invasive respiratory support
Perform advanced pediatric critical care procedures
Interpret diagnostic studies, including X-rays and EKGs
Manage acute volume and blood pressure issues
Perform and supervise procedures within the physician's scope of practice
Respond to clinical emergencies and provide stabilization of critically ill patients
Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Practitioners
Communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary care teams
Participate in inpatient call coverage
Maintain thorough and timely medical documentation
Qualifications
Completed Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship
Active Indiana medical license
BLS certification
PALS certification
Ability to participate in call coverage
Ability to supervise Advanced Practice Practitioners
