Internal Medicine Residency Faculty Opportunity – Geriatric Specialist
Location: Southeast U.S. – Major Nonprofit Healthcare System
A leading nonprofit healthcare system in the Southeast is seeking a Board-Certified Geriatrician to join as a Geriatrics Sub-specialty Education (SSE) Coordinator for its newly accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. The program is set to welcome its inaugural class of residents in July 2026.
This is a unique opportunity to blend academic leadership with clinical practice in a health system recognized for excellence, growth, and community impact.
Position Highlights
Academic Appointment: Serve as SSE Coordinator for the Geriatrics curriculum.
Clinical Focus:
50% Outpatient Geriatrics (consults & follow-ups)
50% Precepting Internal Medicine Residents
FTE Breakdown: 0.05 Administrative / 0.95 Clinical
Collaborative Environment: Work closely with Program Director to develop curriculum, lead lectures, and mentor residents.
Ideal Candidate
Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine (ABIM or ABFM)
Eligible for full medical licensure in South Carolina
Experienced or interested in medical education and curriculum development
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Core Responsibilities
Design and implement the Geriatrics curriculum
Provide clinical supervision and resident mentorship
Engage in quality improvement and scholarly activity
Participate in faculty development and program evaluation
